The rules for using Projects
These terms are an agreement between you and DeoWorks. They cover donors, volunteers, people who pray, and the organizers who post projects. Please read them; using the site means you accept them.

1. Who we are
Projects is operated by DeoWorks ("DeoWorks", "we"), a California nonprofit organization exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3). Contact us at giving@deoworks.org or 992 Hanson Ct. Milpitas, CA 95035.
2. What the site does
Projects lets organizers describe a project and ask for three kinds of help: money, volunteer time, and prayer. Donors give money to DeoWorks, which passes it on to the project as described in our Giving policy, which is part of these terms. Volunteer and prayer commitments are made directly between you and the organizer.
DeoWorks reviews projects before listing them, but we do not run them. We are not a party to any arrangement between organizers and volunteers, and we do not guarantee that a project will be completed or that funds will be used exactly as described.
3. Accounts
You need a Google or Facebook account to donate, volunteer, pray for a project, or post one. You must be at least 18 years old, or 13 or older with a parent's permission, to use the site. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else is using it.
4. Rules for organizers
If you post a project you agree that:
- everything you say about the project, your organization, and yourself is true and stays up to date;
- you have correctly stated whether the recipient is a church, a registered nonprofit, a business, or an individual, and you understand that donors rely on that to know whether their gift is deductible;
- money you receive will be used for the purpose described in the project;
- you are responsible for any taxes on funds you receive, and if you are a business or an individual you understand the funds may be taxable income to you;
- the payout details you give us are accurate, and you will tell us promptly if they change;
- you will honor volunteer commitments made through the site in good faith, keep volunteers reasonably safe, and treat them respectfully;
- you will not post a project to raise money for anything unlawful, for political campaigns, for personal debts unrelated to a stated need, or in violation of Stripe's restricted business list;
- you will respond to reasonable questions from DeoWorks about how funds were used, and provide receipts if asked.
DeoWorks may edit, un-list, or remove a project, withhold or redirect funds, or close an account at any time if we believe these rules have been broken or if we are required to by law.
5. Rules for donors, volunteers, and everyone else
- Use only a payment card you are authorized to use.
- Do not use the site to launder money, test stolen cards, or move money for anyone else.
- Contact information you receive as a volunteer is for coordinating that project only.
- Do not harass anyone, post anything unlawful or hateful, or impersonate another person or organization.
- Do not scrape the site, probe it for vulnerabilities, or interfere with its operation.
6. Donations
All donations are governed by the Giving policy, including its terms on fees, disbursement, DeoWorks's discretion over funds, tax deductibility, and refunds.
7. Content you post
You keep ownership of the text and images you upload. You give DeoWorks a worldwide, royalty-free license to display, copy, and share them in connection with running and promoting the site and your project, and to keep copies as required for our records. You confirm you have the right to post them, including permission from any identifiable people in photos.
8. Prayer
Prayer requests and commitments are offered sincerely. DeoWorks makes no representation about their outcome, and a prayer commitment creates no legal obligation.
9. Disclaimers
The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, DeoWorks disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that projects are accurate, that organizers will perform, or that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, DeoWorks and its directors, officers, volunteers, and agents are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, goodwill, or funds arising from your use of the site or from any project, organizer, or volunteer. Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you donated through the site in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits; where that applies, they apply to the extent permitted.
11. Indemnity
If you are an organizer, you agree to defend and indemnify DeoWorks against claims arising from your project, your use of funds, your treatment of volunteers, or your breach of these terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing, please write to us; most problems can be sorted out by email.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top tells you when. Material changes will be flagged on the site; continuing to use it after that means you accept them.
